Montreal, Canada – March 2nd, 2010 – Being a part of a massively successful musical group means you are constantly on the move and facing new adventures every day. The boys from The Bilz & Kashif have been busy putting the final touches on their sophomore album, Breaking Barriers – but somehow they have found time to get involved with some other pretty cool projects along the way.

The Bilz & Kashif, known for fusing Bhangra music with Urban/Pop and electro will headline Canadian Music Week’s Spotlight on India on March 12th. The weeklong festival will feature Billboard charting acts like Our Lady Peace and Ke$ha. How does it feel to represent the growing urban sound of South Asia? Kashif says, “This is probably the best thing to happen for Canadian artists like us. This event has been a major part of the industry for a while and for CMW to acknowledge the growth of South Asian artists makes us really proud to headline this segment. Montreal, Canada—The boys from The Bilz & Kashif have faced their fair share of challenges, which served as the inspiration for their latest single, “Against All Odds.” The upbeat track, taken from the group’s upcoming album, is something everyone can relate to. “Everyone goes through hardships in achieving their goals,” DJ Vicious says. “We’ve all had people tell us we can’t do something, but if you put your mind to it, you can overcome any obstacle.” The video, a series of vignettes illustrating the guys’ own personal obstacles, was shot over 3 days in Montreal, and is set to release along with the single.

The promo track has gotten 22,000 downloads already and has charted on every major international urban blog. The record marries a popular Soulja Boy song, “Kiss Me Thru the Phone,” with the lyrics and smooth voice of Kashif. Rappers Nivla and Drega are also featured.

The Bilz & Kashif have been selected to perform their international peace song – One Voice at the 2009 Martin Luther King Acheievement Awards in Amsterdam. The award show will take place inside the Heineken Music Hall in front of 2ooo people. They will be performing alongside other international acts such as Elvis Crespo (Suavémenté), Ziggy and SuperFly to name a few. “We are honored to be part of this event. We knew this song had potential and it was only a matter of time that we would reach out to our international audience. Now, we’re performing for the King Movement and there isn’t a better way to spread our message of peace – The Bilz & Kashif”
